About Sarah

Sarah Reed is an active freelance musician and educator in Northwest Arkansas. She has performed with the Arkansas Philharmonic, Symphony of Northwest Arkansas, Ft. Smith Symphony, and the C4 Clarinet Quartet. As a SoNA Mentor and adjunct instructor, she supports educators and helps students achieve their highest potential.
Specializing in multiple woodwinds, Reed has performed at TheatreSquared and John Brown University in musicals such as “The Band’s Visit” and “The Addams Family.” She also maintains a robust private woodwind studio at Arkansas Music Conservatory in Bentonville.

Reed holds a Master of Music degree in Clarinet Performance from the University of Arkansas where she served as the graduate assistant for Dr. Nophachai Cholthitchanta and the Razorback Marching Band.
Before coming to Arkansas, Reed worked as the Assistant Band Director/General Music Teacher at Sperry Public Schools in Sperry, Oklahoma. While a director with the program, the 45-member band received the 2021 OSSAA Band Sweepstakes Award which consists of earning Superior ratings in both concert band and marching band for only the second time in school history.

Prior to the appointment at Sperry, Reed completed her Bachelor’s of Music Education at the University of Wyoming (UW). She was the principal clarinet in both the Wind Symphony and Symphony Orchestra, and was an active member in the Alpha Nu Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi, the band service fraternity. Reed was also the Head Drum Major of the Western Thunder Marching Band and was awarded the Most Outstanding 4th Year Member in her final season.
Reed has performed throughout the United States as a woodwind specialist with various ensembles and productions. She is a founding member of the C4 Clarinet Quartet, who have performed throughout Northwest Arkansas, including at the Crystal Bridges Museum of Art. As a pit orchestra musician, she has played in dozens of performances in Wyoming, Montana, Oklahoma, Nevada, and Arkansas including a summer series of “Chicago: A Musical Vaudeville” in Las Vegas. She performed a world premiere of the musical “It Came from Outer Space” with TheatreSquared in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
In her free time, she enjoys playing music and spending time with her boyfriend Michael and cats Fay and Emeril, watching Star Wars, collecting Darth Vader memorabilia, and cheering on her Denver Broncos and Buffalo Bills.
